Types of Electric Cars

3.) Hybrid-electric –
They operate primarily on fuel such as gasoline or diesel but do have an electricity generator, which is charged up by regenerative breakage.

How long does it take to charge an EV?
There are three charging speeds for EV, too:
1.) Poor-Typically rated to 3kW. Sometimes used to register at home, or overnight. Period to charge 8-10 hours.
2.) Quick-usually rated 7Kw or 22kW. Tend to be located in off-street parking garages, malls, recreation centres and homes. Flash time: 3-4 hours.
3.) Fast-usually rated at 43 kW. Also compatible with EVs which are capable of fast charging. Time to charge: 30–60 minutes.

Kilowatts (kW) is a control unit (how much power a machine needs to function). A kWh or kilowatt-hour is an energy unit (it indicates how much power is being used); a 100 watt lamp, for example , uses 0.1 kW per hour. An average household uses 3,100 kWh of energy per annum. An electric car uses 2000 kWh of energy a year on average.
